About the Artist
Gay Gillies has been an artist her entire life. Her art represents emotional responses and connections to her immediate environment. She draws inspiration from a broad and continually changing range of themes and works with many different mediums including fresco, oil, charcoal, paper, plaster, clay, and bronze. Much of her work melds ancient techniques using her own modern alchemy.

“My work originates from the rough sketches of my daily travels, imagination, dreams and memories. Its execution relies solely on the mind’s eye. My images focus on the soul of an impression. What has my hand observed and what does it want to say? Questions, windblown trees, the human-built environment – motion, color, mood. These are the contemplations, the lasting emotions, the sticky and raw impressions left to my mind’s inventory.”
