About the Artist

Gay Gillies has been an artist her entire life. She has lived and traveled worldwide—and her art integrates and reflects the emotional content and aesthetic influences gleaned from classic European cities to ancient Asian mountaintops. Recently, she has also become a bee-keeper, bringing her in intimate contact with the changing dynamics of pollination and bee colonization.

Gillies studied at a variety of schools including: The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; The Parson School of Design; Fashion Institute of Technology; Bellas Artes (Barcelona, Spain). She makes and teaches art in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, where she lives with her husband, David; her children Merrick and Sophia; and her dog, Jack.
